Jon Sheppard

“I use the full range of Singh-Ray filters to capture precisely what my eyes and imagination see, with all its full natural beauty and impact. I would never leave home without them!”

Jon has always been addicted to adventure. In his three award-winning books, Someday in a Place Out West, Always Colorado and Cowboys, Cowgirls & Wide Open Spaces, he shares his exciting insight, stories and photography. His many adventures of past experiences helped to develop a keen eye for the glorious images of life all around him. Jon was a “Navy kid” for whom travel was commonplace. As a young man, he lived in the West Indies where he was in the scuba diving and boat charter business. There he began his adventures in underwater photography and film work. Diving for sunken treasures, spear fishing and exploring the jungles was a daily routine. In Tennessee he shared a skill for rock climbing and had a climbing school. He delighted in the challenges of whitewater rafting and kayaking. Jon also was an avid skydiver and his highest jump from a perfectly good airplane was from 20,000 feet. Back on the ground he played drums in the world of country music. Utilizing his artistic talents, he worked for many years in the television production industry as a cameraman.

Jon now calls the high country of Colorado his home. He seizes every opportunity to photograph the scenic beauty all around him. He enjoys the thrill of snow skiing and during the winter months you will find him out on the ski slopes. For fun, he and two friends set a world’s record by skiing 18 different Colorado ski areas in one long day. And they raised over $20,000 for the then U.S. Disabled Ski Team. Besides traveling all around America, parts of Canada and Alaska, Jon has also spent time in New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and Russia.
